Divi Reviews: Features
Going over the pros and cons, here’s a more in-depth look at the main features of the Divi WordPress theme in this Divi theme review.
40+ Website Elements
With Divi themes, you get access to 40+ advanced website elements or content modules. These function similarly to Gutenberg blocks but are much more powerful, diverse, and extremely customizable.
You will get access to a library from where you get to select which module you want to add to your layout.
Once a module is added, you will be presented with the module settings, from where you can customize it to fit your requirements. You can also save the edited version of the modules and add them to your own module library. This allows you to reuse the modules multiple times without you having to reconfigure the options each time.
Here’s a quick mention of some of the website element/module that I found most useful:
- Contact Form – no need to add a contact form plugin.
- Call to Action
- Email Optin
- Social Media Follow
1500+ Premade Designs
With Divi themes, you get access to over 1500 professionally designed premade layouts, with many more added every single week.
Many of the layouts are also bundled together to form website layout packs. This includes a collection of demo pages like the Home page, About Us page, Contact Page, and so on, all tied together by the same design and aesthetics.
And thanks to its massive collection of premade demos, you are bound to find a design that meets your needs and requirements.
All you need to do is pick a layout pack that fits your website’s niche, and you will have a professional-grade website ready with all the necessary web pages. Cool isn’t it?
An Intuitive WYSIWYG Editing Experience
At the heart of the Divi themes, you have the Divi Visual Page Builder. It’s a feature-rich page builder plugin that gives you access to a powerful WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) designing experience.
First of all, In this Divi theme review, you get access to both a backend wireframe editor as well as a frontend live editor for creating/editing your layout. All changes you make will take effect in real time, and you can easily switch between desktop, mobile, and tablet views to let you see firsthand how your design will look on different devices.
It lets you move around different sections, rows, elements, and modules, by simply dragging and dropping with your mouse. You get to edit text on the fly using inline text editing.
There’s also the option to undo, redo changes, and an “editing history” section which highlights and lets you switch between all the different changes you made while working on the layout.
Once you have completed a design, you can publish it, and make it available to all your website visitors. Or if you are feeling tired and intend on finishing it later, you can save the design as a draft.
Powerful Customization Settings
The Divi themes, in conjunction with the Divi Visual Page Builder, brings powerful customization and design features to the table. Each module has its own separate “design” settings, where you will find tons of awesome customization options.
Here’s a look at the different customization options for the “Contact Form” module:
Some of these options will repeat for the other modules, whereas some options are going to be unique for that particular module.
Here’s a quick rundown of the different customization I found most fascinating:
- Set hover effects for modules.
- Create custom design settings for different sized devices – desktop, mobile, tablet.
- Powerful font and text customization options.
- Set custom shapes and effects as page dividers.
- Option to transform elements on the webpage in real time. Increase in size, rotate around an axis, skew orientation, and much more.
- Tons of filters and effects to let you control the Hue, Saturation, Brightness, Contrast, Invert, Opacity, and Sepia.
- Create custom drop shadows to give UI elements some depth.

In-Built Marketing Utilities
The Divi theme is not simply about helping you create a beautiful looking website, but it also bundles in powerful tools to help improve your site’s lead generation and conversion rates.
Here’s a quick look at some of its impressive marketing utilities:

Not only will Divi let you create stunning websites, but it will let you create them super fast. The theme comes with many built in features aimed at improving your productivity and streamlining your overall web development workflow.

- Copy and paste design styles from one element to others.
- Keyboard shortcuts to help you control the builder using just your keyboard.

Divi Reviews: Creating and Customizing Layouts
Now that you have an idea of all the different bells and whistles Divi brings to the table, here’s a quick showcase of how everything comes together to help you create and customize layouts.
The Default Look
Once you download and install Divi on your WordPress website, it will set up a two-column layout, similar to what you see below:
The design is very clean, minimal, and elegant.
But you can easily spice things up by using one of the many premade site layout packs.
Importing A Divi Premade Layout
In this example, I will be trying to import a premade Divi layout and use it as the landing page for my website.
To import a premade Divi layout, login to your WordPress dashboard and go to Pages > Add New. I am going to name the page “Landing Page.” Next, notice that you now have two options – either use Divi Builder or your Default Editor to create the new page.
Click on “Use Divi Builder”!
This is going to present you with three options – “BUILD FROM SCRATCH,” “CHOOSE A PREMADE LAYOUT,” and “CLONE EXISTING PAGE.”
Click on the “CHOOSE A PREMADE LAYOUT” to open the Divi Library.
From here, you can browse and select the layout you want to use for the page. For this guide, I will be picking the “Design Agency” Layout Pack, but you can select any other layout you like. Selecting a pack will present you with all available layouts inside the pack. I am going to select the “Landing” template and then click on “Use This Layout.”
After selecting your preferred layout pack, it will begin importing it to your WordPress installation.
Once imported, the design will be applied and you can start customizing it using the Divi Visual Builder. This includes customizing the placeholder text, moving around modules & sections, deleting specific modules & sections, and much more.
Once done, hit the “Publish” button and the new page will become available to your visitors.
Note: At the time of writing, there’s no specific option to apply a complete Layout Pack on your WordPress website. You will need to individually create new pages, and then apply the templates inside the Layout Packs separately.
Create a Contact Us Page From Scratch
By now you should have an idea of how to use the premade layouts to set up your WordPress website. But what if you don’t like these premade options and want to create something from scratch?
Well, that too can be easily done! But first, let’s quickly go over how the page builder works.
The Divi Visual Builder sees a web page layout divided into three major parts. First, you have sections. Within each section there are rows. And within the rows, you have the modules.
So with that out of the way, let’s create a new webpage.
For the sake of this example, I will be creating a new “Contact Us” page from scratch using Divi.
To do this, we again go to Pages > Add New and give a name to the page. I am going to name it “Contact Us.” Now, same as before, select the “Use Divi Builder” button, but this time, click on the “BUILD FROM SCRATCH” option.
This is going to open a blank page, with a “Regular Section” set-up by default, and giving you a “+ Plus” button asking you to insert a new row.
However, I want a full-width header section, where I am going to set up a header image, welcoming users to the contact page. To do this, I will delete the default Section, and add a new “Fullwidth Section.” Next, I will select the “Fullwidth Image” module, and then upload an image from my media gallery.
Here’s a quick GIF showcasing how I did it to help you out!
Next, I am going to create a new Regular Section and set up a two-column Row. Here, on the left side, I am going to have a Social Media Follow module to encourage users to follow us on social networks. And on the right side, I am going to add the Contact Form module.
This GIF should give you an idea of how simply this can be achieved.
See how easy it is?
Now the reason I chose the Contact Form module is that I wanted to showcase just how powerful it is. You can add more fields to collect additional user information, set up an email where the user entered message is sent, enable spam protection, and much more.
Here’s a look at all these options:
Next, to make the design look a bit more modern and stylish, I am going to add a divider separating the two sections.
To do this, I am going to select the top Section, go to its “Settings”, switch to the “Design” tab, and select “Dividers.”
I want to apply the divider at the bottom, so I will select the “Bottom” option, and then select the Divider style I want. I can even pick a color for the Divider.
Once done, hit the “tick” button, and your new divider will get applied.
Now, once you are done designing your new page using Divi, click the three dot icon “…” at the bottom of the page to open additional settings. Next, if you are ready to launch the page, click on “Publish,” or if you want to work on it later, click “Save Draft.”
And that’s it! You have successfully created a new webpage from scratch using Divi. Super easy, and only took a couple of minutes!
Divi Reviews: Pricing
The Divi WordPress Theme isn’t available as a standalone purchase. You will need to sign up for a paid membership with Elegant Themes if you want to download and install Divi on your website.
So how much does the Elegant Themes membership cost?
Well, there’s a starting plan at $89/year. But if you don’t like yearly subscriptions then you can get lifetime access for just $249. It’s worth noting that both subscription plans allow you to use the theme on as many websites as you want – no limitations.
Now, you might be thinking that this is too expensive. And you would be right if you were just purchasing a single WordPress theme. However, the Elegant Themes Membership gives you access to much more than just the Divi WordPress theme.
